Hiemalis Begonias - Growth Regulators, Pinching, Spacing

Growth Regulators:
Application of Cycocel^® or A-Rest^® is needed only when you desire to maintain compact growth. Apply the growth regulator early, 21-28 days after start of short-day treatment for best results. Plants must not be under any stress when applying growth regulators. Apply Cycocel^® as a spray at 1,500 ppm. Recommended application rate for A-Rest^® is 25 ppm.. Reducing water may also be used as a growth regulator during short-day treatment.

Pinching:
A pinch will be necessary on single-stem plants to allow the plant to break along the main stem with new shoots emerging at the leaf axis. Pinching helps shape the plant and provides additional flowering shoots. Pinch approximately two weeks after transplanting.

Spacing:
Maintain the plants pot-to-pot until week four after S.D.T. has begun. Avoid crowding in the finishing stage. Recommended final spacing:
